| | We got in and carried everything up the hill and crashed.
When we woke up the next morning, it was snowing!
It snowed most of the day and it was beautiful to watch
and it gave us the excuse to do nothing all day. |

Luna and I watched as Dave frolicked.
The next day the sun came out and alternated with enough rain to melt away the 2 or 3 inches of snow,
so we finished up our 'inside projects' and got out and got to work.
We framed the doorway coming from the hallway into the kitchen - turns out we are not naturally gifted carpenters! :)

After our regular chores, our friends took us out for a boat ride and hike on Valdez Island -
that is where we took Mom and Dad for a day-trip on their visit to our cabin.
With Mom and Dad, we had gone to the end of the island to a beach and old Indian reserve.
With John and Gina, we climbed up the middle of Valdez.
From the top, you can see all the islands of the area.

Down from the hike, I helped Gina collect Stinging Nettles for a quiche recipe she wanted to try.
I had not encountered Stinging Nettles before, so, of course, I tried to smell one. Big mistake.
They sting. And it keeps stinging for a day! By bedtime that night, it only felt like when you hit your funny-bone (tingly).
The quiche was great, tho!
Dave and John had to save the boat - the tide was going out and leaving her high and dry when we got back to the beach!
Luckily, John had a couple pairs of shorts to change into since both of them had soaked pants.
In the emergency situation, Dave forgot he had the camera in his pocket,
so this is the last picture we have of the trip - John bringing beer back from the boat to go with our picnic.

 We had a great time.
